London Local Authority – 2 Days Onsite per Week

12‑Month Fixed Term Contract – January Start

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEND Commissioning Manager to support a London local authority as they deliver key elements of their SEND Improvement Plan.

About the Role

You will play a central role in shaping and strengthening the authority’s SEND commissioning strategy, with an initial focus on reviewing the current SEND therapies offer (inc. Speech & Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy). Working in close partnership with the SEND service, you’ll be driving initiatives across Alternative Provision and the High Needs Block.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the review and development of the SEND therapies offer.
  • Analyse a range of data, including demographic and demand data, to inform commissioning decisions.
  • Develop and write the local Autism Strategy.
  • Support the development of the Joint Commissioning Strategy across education, health and social care.
  • Work collaboratively with key partners, including Health, Social Care, and the ICB.
  • Lead on commissioning projects and service development initiatives.
  • Evaluate tenders and support procurement processes.
  • Undertake internal service reviews to support potential restructuring.
  • Work closely with the Parent Carer Forum to ensure co‑production and lived experience inform decision‑making.
  • Produce high‑quality reports, briefings, and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Oversee contract management for relevant services.
  • Please note: this role has no line management responsibilities.
About You
  • Strong experience in SEND commissioning within a local authority or ICB, including knowledge of the end-to-end commissioning cycle.
  • Confidence in analysing and interpreting complex data.
  • A track record of leading projects and delivering strategic improvements.
  • Clear, concise report‑writing and communication skills.
