An education support service is seeking a part-time Academic Mentor to support various learners in Exeter. The role requires a teaching qualification with experience in the primary age range and flexibility to assist KS3 learners. Our client is an Alternative Education Provision service serving primary, secondary-aged and post-16 learners across multiple sites, with their main headquarters based in Weston Super Mare. The learners supported have EHCPs relating mainly to Autism, SEMH and trauma. The provision operates a revolving-door model where students stay up to 18 weeks, either full-time or part-time, before returning to mainstream education or moving to a special school. Elmtree Learning Partnership has supported learners at other sites since 2022 (url removed).
We are recruiting additional staff for the Exeter site, based in the Stoke Hill area of Exeter. The Exeter site currently supports between approximately 16 and 50 learners across onsite, outreach, and home-based learning.
The Exeter site core business hours are 8:30am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. A full day is 6 hours within the core hours. Learning is delivered on a term-time basis. Across the service, all learning packages are individual to the learner; hours for this role are as specified, and we welcome applications from candidates with appropriate skills and experience.
For the Academic Mentor role we are seeking applicants who have a teaching qualification, ideally holding QTS, with experience of the UK National Curriculum. Experience should include Primary and likely KS3.
