SEN Tutor Make a Real Difference EFWS (Education and Family Wellbeing Service) is looking for an experienced SEN Tutor, Teacher, Mentor or Education Professional to support a young person in Colchester who has disengaged from mainstream education.
The young person may have Special Educational Needs (SEN), ASD, ADHD, SEMH, anxiety or other complex needs, and may be reluctant to engage with education or currently be out of school.
This is an opportunity to do more than deliver lessons. You'll build a trusting relationship with a young person, understand their individual needs and help them rebuild their confidence, engagement and relationship with education.
As an SEN Tutor, you will provide personalised 1:1 tuition, primarily during weekday daytime hours. Sessions may take place in the young person's home, a local library or community venue, or online where permitted.
You’ll adapt your approach to the individual learner, building on their strengths and celebrating progress along the way. EFWS takes a strengths‑based, trauma‑informed and child‑centred approach to supporting young people.
We’re looking for someone who is patient, empathetic and able to build positive relationships with young people who may be reluctant or anxious about education.
QTS or equivalent is highly desirable, particularly for placements involving GCSE English, Maths and Science. Trainees working towards QTS are also welcome to apply.
This is a flexible contract, making it well suited to teachers, tutors and education professionals looking for additional or flexible daytime work.
You provide us with your availability and preferred travel radius, and we aim to match you with suitable placements.
