Job summary

New Directions Education is seeking Level 3 Teaching Assistants to work in SEN settings across Leeds, supporting pupils with a variety of needs. The role involves collaboration with teaching staff and SENCOs to deliver tailored education, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed approaches and behaviour support.

Roles require patience, flexibility, and a compassionate approach, and are subject to satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and behavioural support.
  • Training in Team-Teach or other recognised behaviour intervention methods.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning, delivery and assessment of individualised learning for pupils with SEN.
  • Deliver differentiated learning alongside class teachers to ensure curriculum access.
  • Provide small group interventions under SENCOs and phase leaders.
  • Assist in development and monitoring of EHCP outcomes, contributing to reviews.
  • Provide cover for whole classes in short-term absence of the class teacher.
  • Offer guidance and support to other teaching assistants for consistency.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to reporting.
