Job summary

Aspire People is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant in Bury to support pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning and participate in classroom routines. Candidates with transferable experience in care or youth work are welcome.

The role focuses on promoting communication, independence and positive behaviour while working closely with teachers to support pupil progress in a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or individuals with additional needs or transferable experience in care, youth work, or learning disability support.
• Demonstrates patience, empathy and a calm, consistent approach.
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Understanding safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• Flexible, reliable and willing to learn.
• Committed to helping every learner achieve their potential.

Responsibilities

• Providing individual or small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Supporting pupils with autism, learning disabilities and other special educational needs.
• Helping pupils access learning activities and participate in classroom routines.
• Encouraging communication, social interaction and independence.
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour using agreed strategies.
• Adapting support to meet individual learning and developmental needs.
• Working closely with teachers and other professionals to support pupil progress.
• Maintaining a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
