Job summary

Laburnum Primary School is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to provide direct classroom support for pupils, including those with additional needs. Start date is immediate or after notice period, with fixed-term 1 year in a 39-week term-time schedule (31.25 hours per week, 8:45am–3:30pm).

Salary for AS 1-3 FTE ranges £24,534–£25,105, actual pro rata £17,982–£18,400. The role requires safeguarding awareness and collaboration with teachers and senior leaders.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working with children in an educational setting.
• Friendly, energetic, and an enthusiastic team player.
• Able to work effectively under instructions from class teacher and senior leaders.
• Understanding of safeguarding and its implications within an educational setting.
• TA qualification (desirable)
• Understanding of Autistic Spectrum Condition (desirable)
• Responsible and able to use initiative.

Responsibilities

• Develop nurturing and professional relationships with pupils.
• Support pupils to engage in both class and lunch time activities.
• Work as part of the wider staff team across the lunch period.
• Support pupils with activities outlined in their Individual Education Plan.
• Show an active understanding of the safeguarding issues associated with working in schools.
