Job summary

Millgate School is seeking a caring and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to work with the class teacher to support learning in class. The role is 34 hours per week for 39 weeks per year (term time plus inset days) under a permanent contract.

The candidate will plan and deliver targeted support for pupils with disabilities, differentiate activities, and help monitor progress and communications with families. Knowledge of safeguarding is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification (e.g. Teaching Assistant awards, English GCSE, Level 2 Basic Skills Literacy, CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Child Care and Education)
• Experience of working with children of the target age group
• Knowledge of safeguarding and safety procedures in schools

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide specialist support to pupils with identified disabilities and complex needs to access a broad curriculum
• Differentiate activities to enable access to learning under teacher direction
• Assess, record and report on development and attainment
• Support parents to understand their child’s needs and provide guidance
