About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming two-form entry primary school in Newham. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within a mainstream classroom setting.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and the school\'s SENCO to help the pupil access the curriculum, develop social and communication skills, and foster confidence and independence in their learning.
Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 support for a child with ASD in KS2.
 
- Implement strategies to promote engagement, focus, and positive behaviour.
 
- Adapt learning materials and activities to suit the child\'s individual needs.
 
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to track progress.
 
- Encourage inclusion within the classroom and during wider school activities.
 
Requirements
- Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (ASD experience desirable).
 
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
 
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
 
- An understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
 
- Availability for a full-time, long-term position.
