Job summary

A leading education recruitment agency is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant in Lewisham to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with an EHCP for Autism. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support, assist with learning activities, and promote positive behaviour. Previous experience with Special Educational Needs is desirable but not essential. Location: Lewisham, SE6

Contract Type: Full-time via Milk Education

Working Hours: 8:15am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil in Lewisham with an EHCP for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child\'s education, working closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to provide tailored support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with an ASD diagnosis, in line with their EHCP.
  • Assist with learning activities, social communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support the child in accessing the curriculum and building independence.
  • Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN (desirable but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach.
  • Ability to follow guidance from teachers and SENCo.
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
