Job summary

You will deliver tailored support, one-to-one and in small groups, for students with SEND, helping them access learning and reach their full potential. Ongoing training and support will be provided to the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Significant experience with children with SEND, including autism and speech/language needs.
• Proficient with visual aids such as PECS and visual timetables.
• Strong knowledge of Makaton and able to use it in the classroom.
• Patient, adaptable, proactive, with a genuine passion for inclusive education.

Responsibilities

The Role

In this role you will play a key role in delivering tailored support, both one-to-one and in small groups for students with SEND, helping them to access learning and reach their full potential. This role is ideal for someone looking to be part of a well-resourced, purpose-driven SEN provision where pupils are at the heart of everything they do. The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will:

• Have significant experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with autism, speech and language needs, and communication difficulties
• Be confident in using visual aids, such as PECS and visual timetables, to support learning and engagement
• Have a strong working knowledge of Makaton and be able to use it effectively in the classroom
• Be patient, adaptable, and proactive, with a genuine passion for inclusive education
• Work well as part of a team, liaising with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals as needed
