We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a well-regarded specialist school in Sheffield. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a significant impact in the lives of young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including those who are non-verbal or have significant communication challenges.

This inclusive and nurturing school supports pupils aged 11–19 with ASD across multiple sites in Sheffield. Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with ASD and communication difficulties.
  • Utilise alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC) to support non-verbal pupils.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver consistent and meaningful support.
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children or young people with ASD and/or communication needs.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn communication strategies such as PECS or Makaton.
