Job summary

Supply Staff Ltd in Taunton, Somerset, is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant for day-to-day supply work and full-time, long-term roles across primary schools in Taunton and surrounding areas.

You will support pupils with SEN, help them access learning and build confidence while collaborating closely with teachers and school staff. DBS checks and safeguarding compliance are required for roles across UK schools.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• A patient, supportive and adaptable approach.
• Experience supporting needs such as autism, ADHD or communication difficulties is advantageous.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply.
• Full compliance with standard UK school safeguarding regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide cover for absent SEN Teaching Assistants, including short-notice bookings.
• Support pupils with SEN in accessing learning and classroom activities.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support where required.
• Assist teachers with adapting activities to meet individual needs.
• Promote positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and wider school staff.
