Location: Southall. Full-Time. Monday to Friday. Start Date: ASAP.

Axcis are working with a primary school, with a warm, inclusive, and forward-thinking specialist Deaf Centre, committed to ensuring that every child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. The school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the wider support staff to provide high-quality learning experiences for pupils with a range of additional needs, including those who are deaf or have hearing impairments. The role involves supporting both individuals and small groups, adapting learning materials, and helping pupils to access the curriculum effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with special educational needs, including those with hearing impairments, in their learning and development.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and communication strategies.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional well‑being, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, speech and language therapists, and other professionals.
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) or be willing to train in BSL (training can be provided for the right candidate).
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience of working with children with SEN, ideally within a primary or specialist setting.
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting young learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for inclusion and for helping children achieve their full potential.
  • (Desirable) Knowledge of or qualification in British Sign Language (BSL).
