Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is assisting a specialist SEN school in Shrewsbury with immediate opportunities for Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistants. You will support pupils with diverse SEN, assist teachers and work as part of a specialist team to promote learning and personal development.

Ideal candidates will have a Level 2 qualification, a patient and adaptable approach, and strong communication skills to engage learners aged 2 to 25 in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children or young people desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN or complex needs desirable.
  • Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a wide range of SEN and complex learning needs.
  • Assist teachers and specialist staff with learning and classroom activities.
  • Provide individual and small-group support where required.
  • Help pupils develop communication, social, emotional and independence skills.
  • Support pupils with personal development and engagement in learning.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and participation throughout the school day.
  • Adapt approach to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider support staff.

Immediate Opportunities in Specialist SEN Education

Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Supply Bank of Supporting Education Group, a partner of Teaching Personnel, is supporting a specialist SEN school in the Shrewsbury area with the recruitment of Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistants.

The school provides education and support for pupils and young people aged approximately 2 to 25 years, with a wide range of additional and complex special educational needs. The setting offers a highly supportive and specialist environment where staff work closely with pupils to promote their learning, communication, independence and personal development.

The Role
  • Support pupils with a wide range of SEN and complex learning needs

Ideal Candidates Will Have
  • A Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, Education, or a relevant equivalent qualification
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN or complex needs is highly desirable
  • A patient, caring and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a specialist education team
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people to reach their potential
Requirements
  • Level 2 qualification is essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Relevant experience in education, childcare, SEN or support settings preferred
  • Reliability and flexibility to support regular morning bookings
