GSL Education are recruiting a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist provision in the Selby area. This is a rewarding full-time opportunity supporting pupils who require additional academic, emotional and behavioural support outside of mainstream education.

About the School

This specialist setting supports children and young people aged 4–16 who have experienced barriers to learning, including SEND, SEMH needs and social or emotional challenges. Pupils benefit from small class sizes, structured routines and personalised learning pathways tailored to their individual needs.

The provision focuses on nurturing positive relationships, emotional regulation and re-engagement with education through a flexible and supportive curriculum.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs

Support personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies

Assist pupils with academic tasks, social skills and emotional regulation

Promote positive engagement, confidence and independence

Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals

Requirements

Experience supporting pupils with SEND or SEMH needs

Understanding of behaviour management and trauma-informed approaches

Calm, patient and resilient attitude

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
