About the role/school

Teach Plus are seeking a warm, patient, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive, Ofsted Good rated mainstream primary school in Tower Hamlets. This two-form entry school is well-known for its inclusive ethos, strong pastoral care, and commitment to ensuring every child receives the support they need to succeed.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working within a specialist class for pupils with ASD, supporting children with a range of communication, sensory, and social needs. Some pupils may require assistance with self-care throughout the day. The role is ideal for someone passionate about SEND, who can build strong, trusting relationships and provide consistent, calm support.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with ASD on a 1:1 and small-group basis as an SEN Teaching Assistant, helping them access learning and daily routines.
  • Assist children with self-care needs where required, promoting independence and dignity.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider staff team to deliver tailored interventions and support plans.
  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Use strategies that support communication, sensory regulation, and emotional development.
  • Maintain clear communication with staff and contribute to observations and progress updates.
