A primary education organization in Crawley is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. You will provide tailored support to pupils with special learning needs, assisting in classroom activities and promoting an inclusive environment. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting pupils with a variety of additional learning needs, including ASD, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties. Working alongside class teachers and the SENCO, you’ll help deliver tailored learning activities, provide 1:1 and small‑group support, and assist in maintaining an engaging, inclusive classroom environment.
Support pupils with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and achieve learning goals
Assist teachers with planning and adapting resources to meet individual needs
Provide 1:1 and small group interventions to develop academic, emotional, and social skills
Encourage independence and build confidence in pupils through positive reinforcement
Monitor progress and communicate effectively with teaching staff and parents
Promote a safe and supportive learning environment, ensuring pupil well‑being at all times
Assist with personal care and emotional regulation, when required
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEN Support Assistant in a school setting
Knowledge of supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, or other learning difficulties
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A calm, patient, and compassionate approach to supporting children
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
