Job description

Are you passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve more than they ever thought possible? Brinksway School is looking for caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join our exceptional team. This is more than a support role-it's an opportunity to make a genuine and lasting impact every single day. Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists and a multidisciplinary team, you'll help create a nurturing, engaging and inspiring environment where students with additional needs feel safe, valued and empowered to succeed. Every day is different, every achievement is celebrated, and every member of our team plays a vital role in transforming lives.

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging, creative and personalised learning experiences.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support, helping students access the curriculum and achieve their individual goals.
  • Encourage students' communication, independence, confidence and social development.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with the planning, implementation and review of individual support plans and learning activities.
  • Prepare classroom resources and help create stimulating learning environments that inspire curiosity and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and other professionals to provide consistent, holistic support.
  • Maintain accurate records while ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and student wellbeing. Passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Patient, compassionate and committed to helping every student achieve their full potential.
  • A positive team player with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Adaptable, resilient and able to respond confidently to individual student needs.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN or relevant SEN qualifications are beneficial, but not essential - we'll provide training and support to help you succeed.
  • Willing to learn, develop and work towards further professional qualifications.
  • Committed to completing all relevant induction and mandatory training.
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Opened in September 2024, Brinksway School is a purpose-built Primary and Secondary SEN school for 55 students aged 4-13 with autism and complex needs. Located in Stockport, Greater Manchester, our refurbished, specialist building supports learning, independence, and wellbeing.

At Brinksway School, we passionately nurture each student's potential. Our curriculum is tailored to individual needs, aiming not only for academic success but also for growth in confidence, self-esteem, and life skills. We aspire to create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to flourish. At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity. We are proud to be a part of OFG Education who in 2025 were officially certified as a 'Great Place to Work' for the sixth year running.

We place students and vulnerable young adults at the heart of everything we do, so every day brings the satisfaction of making a real difference.
