Help children discover what they can do
Do you have the patience to listen, the warmth to encourage, and the enthusiasm to celebrate the small wins that mean so much?
We’re looking for a caring, patient and reliable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our specialist primary school in Shawford.
You’ll work with children aged 4-11 with Autism, moderate/severe learning difficulties and additional needs, helping them navigate the challenges of school, build confidence and develop the skills they need to thrive.
This is a role where the little things really matter. A child attempting something independently for the first time. A difficult morning turning into a successful day. A new skill finally clicking. Your support could be the difference that helps make those moments happen.
You’ll be part of a friendly, experienced school team where you’ll be supported to learn, develop and make a genuine difference every day.
No two days will be exactly the same. You’ll provide a mixture of classroom, one-to-one and small-group support, working closely with teachers and other professionals to help each child get the most from their school day.
Most importantly, you’ll get to know the children you work with - understanding what motivates them, what helps them feel secure and how best to help them succeed.
You don’t necessarily need previous experience in a specialist school. Experience working with children or young people with SEND is valuable, but we’re equally interested in people who can bring transferable skills from education, childcare, care, youth work or other supportive roles.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Perhaps you’re an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity. Perhaps you’re already working with children and want to develop your career in specialist education. Or perhaps you’re looking for a rewarding new direction where you can make a real difference.
Whatever your background, if you bring the right attitude, compassion and commitment, we’d love to hear from you.
We want our staff to feel supported, valued and equipped to do their best work.
Could this be the role for you?
If you’re someone who takes pride in helping others, stays calm when things get challenging and finds real satisfaction in seeing children grow in confidence, this could be a wonderful opportunity to join our school community.
You won’t be expected to have all the answers on day one. What matters is that you’re caring, enthusiastic, willing to learn and passionate about helping children learn, grow and thrive.
