Job summary

Outcomes First Group's Groveside School in Reading is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to inspire pupils with additional needs. You will teach smaller classes, tailor lessons to individual needs and work with a supportive, multidisciplinary team to help each pupil grow in confidence and independence.

You will join a forward‑thinking, safeguarding‑driven environment, with a strong induction programme, welcome bonus, and a commitment to ongoing professional development within Outcomes First Group.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Passion for helping children with SEND reach their potential.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons that inspire every pupil to succeed.
  • Adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs, helping pupils achieve academic, social and emotional goals.
  • Monitor, assess and celebrate pupil progress, using personalised learning strategies to maximise outcomes.
  • Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour plans and personalised learning pathways.
  • Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom where pupils feel safe, motivated and ready to learn.
  • Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, therapists, families and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Support pupils to develop confidence, independence, resilience and positive behaviour.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement and help shape an outstanding specialist learning environment.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.

Job Title: SEN Teacher

Location: Groveside School, Reading, RG2 7AY

Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata) plus a Welcome Bonus of £1000*

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: September 2026

What you will bring

  • A genuine passion for helping children and young people with SEND achieve their full potential.

  • Strong relationship-building skills and a nurturing, patient approach.
  • Resilience, adaptability and confidence working in a dynamic specialist environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence.

Groveside School is a Special Educational Needs School for Pupils 7 - 16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Our school opened in September 2024 and will cater for 60 pupils. To the ideal candidate, Groveside School offers the following opportunities:
