Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) 🌟

About the Role

Are you a passionate and patient SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We are currently recruiting dedicated SEN TAs to work in a variety of primary and specialist schools across Barnet. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about supporting children with additional learning needs, such as autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory needs, or social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and learning strategies.
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and behaviour management.
  • Encourage students' independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
  • Support pupils' social and emotional development in and out of the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure inclusive education for all learners.
About You

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and willing to learn new strategies.
  • Confident in working with a range of SEN, or eager to gain more experience.
  • Excellent communicators and team players.

Previous experience working with children with SEN (either in schools or in another setting such as care or youth work) is desirable but not essential — full training and guidance will be provided.

Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS (we can assist with this).
  • References covering the last 2 years.
