Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Providing tailored academic support, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and communication, to individuals and small groups with specific needs.

  • Proactively implementing and reinforcing strategies to guide pupils toward positive choices and foster self-regulation skills.

  • Serving as a reliable, consistent adult who offers crucial emotional support and helps pupils navigate social situations.

  • Effectively communicating pupil progress and challenges to the Class Teacher and SENCO, contributing to the development of effective support plans.

  • Assisting in modifying resources and classroom organisation to maximise accessibility and inclusivity for all pupils.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Demonstrable experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly Autism or behavioural needs.

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable, or you must have significant, relevant experience.

  • An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).

  • The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.

  • Exceptional resilience, confidence in managing behaviour, and a flexible mindset.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Training in de-escalation (such as Team Teach) or Trauma-Informed practice is highly advantageous.
