We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a secondary vocational school in Northampton. This role is crucial for providing specialised support to students with special educational needs, helping them to succeed in a vocational learning environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support students with special educational needs in understanding and engaging with the vocational curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with vocational teachers to adapt lessons to meet the needs of all students.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
  • Provide one‑on‑one support where necessary, focusing on specific educational, social, and emotional needs.
  • Facilitate the integration of SEN students into mainstream classes and vocational activities.
  • Use a variety of strategies to promote positive behaviour and effective learning.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within an SEN setting or secondary education.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and techniques involved in vocational education for students with special needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Patience, empathy, and a dedicated approach to educational development and inclusion.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
