Job summary

Odyssey House School in Bloomsbury is seeking a Science teacher to deliver high-quality teaching for SEN students and provide pastoral support. You will work under the SENCO and Head of School, liaising with parents and external agencies to ensure wellbeing and progress.

The role requires adherence to Teachers’ Standards (2012) and safeguarding duties. Schedule: 8.30–5pm, with a focus on differentiated instruction and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• Must meet the Teachers’ Standards (2012).
• Must have the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Teach SEN students of various ages and needs.
• Differentiate learning strategies to meet individual student needs.
• Be accountable for students’ progress and attainment.
• Produce documents and reports for students.
• Monitor student social communication development.
• Liaise with parents and other agencies such as GP, social workers, SLT, educational psychologists.
• Develop subject delivery within the school ethos; supervise Learning Mentors.
• Provide pastoral support to students in your care.
• Set learning objectives and plan lessons to motivate progress.
• Maintain records of lessons and student work.
• Provide intervention activities to boost attainment.
• Ensure safety, behaviour and classroom management in line with policies.
