Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to support students aged 4–19 with SLD and ASD across two Chorley area sites. You will assist teachers with multi-sensory lessons, support individuals and small groups, and apply psychological insights to create structured, low-arousal learning environments.

This role offers meaningful SEN experience within a specialist school. You will play a key role in tracking progress, supporting wellbeing, and acting as a patient,

Qualifications

• Education: A Psychology degree (or closely related discipline).
• Experience: Previous experience or a strong desire to work with children/young people with SLD, ASD, SEN or complex needs.
• Skills: Excellent communication, high resilience, deep empathy and a proactive, patient approach.

Responsibilities

• In-Class Support: Assist teachers in delivering engaging, multi-sensory lessons for students with SLD/ASD.
• 1-to-1 & Small Group Work: Provide targeted support for communication, sensory regulation and functional learning.
• Applying Psychological Insights: Use psychology background to understand behaviour and support with positive behaviour strategies.
• Progress Tracking: Observe and record student progress to shape individual education plans.
• Mentoring & Wellbeing: Be a positive role model, support wellbeing and emotional needs across sites.
