Job summary

MacIntyre is seeking a dedicated educator to lead a passionate team delivering creative, person-centred education for young people with learning disabilities and SEN. Based in Abingdon, you will design meaningful programmes that build confidence, communication and independence while aligning with EHCP outcomes.

You will collaborate with families and professionals to ensure learning experiences have real-world purpose.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status or working towards Level 5 teaching qualification or PGCE.
• Experience supporting autistic young people and/or young people with learning disabilities, or social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Experience leading, coaching or managing others.
• Creativity, curiosity and the confidence to think differently about learning.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, travel across Oxfordshire is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team of Community Teaching Assistants through coaching and mentoring to deliver outstanding person-centred education.
• Provide training, guidance and regular feedback.
• Observe practice and support continuous improvement.
• Monitor progress and ensure learning is well planned, evidenced and celebrated.
• Spend one day each week working directly with learners to stay connected to practice.

About the role

Based in Abingdon in Oxfordshire, you'll lead a passionate team delivering creative, person-centred education that prepares young people for life beyond school.

Every learner has their own strengths, interests, dreams and aspirations. Your role is to ensure these remain at the heart of everything we do.

Working alongside Community Teaching Assistants, families and professionals, you'll design meaningful learning programmes that build on each learner's EHCP outcomes while creating opportunities to develop confidence, communication, independence, relationships and community connections. Whether learning happens in a café, on public transport, volunteering, shopping independently or exploring a new interest, you'll help ensure every experience has purpose and meaning.

You’ll lead and inspire a team of Community Teaching Assistants by:

You’ll also spend one day each week (or equivalent) working directly with learners. This gives you the opportunity to stay connected to practice, model creative approaches and continue developing your own teaching expertise.

Contract

• Full-time (52 weeks per year)

About you

You’ll have:

No Limits is part of the national charity MacIntyre. We provide bespoke integrated education and support programmes for young people with autism and/or a learning disability. We have long recognised that a conventional classroom education is not right for every pupil. We ensure young people get the support they need as early as possible.

Training and Development

At Macintyre we fully support your training and development. We know it can be daunting to start a new job, and not everyone learns the same way, so throughout your probation we will provide you with a mixture of eLearning, face‑to‑face training and mentoring support whilst on the job.

But it doesn't stop there - throughout your career with us you will have access to our own dedicated in house Learning and Development team, Quality Specialists and HR Teams. These teams, along with your Programme Manager, will provide you with opportunities to learn and develop professionally.
