Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire
Contract: Temporary - Part-time or Full-time

Salary: Dependant on experience

Simply Education is working with a highly specialised and nurturing school who supports children from age 11 to 18 years old. Their students have a diverse range of learning needs, including Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). Many also experience communication, interaction, sensory, or physical challenges, such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, or sensory impairments.

The Role

The school are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is suitable for both part-time and full-time applicants, but you must be available to work between 8:30am and 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

This is an excellent opportunity for those with mainstream school experience who are looking to transition into a SEND setting. Some pupils present with complex behaviours associated with their additional needs, so patience, resilience, and a positive approach are essential.

Key Duties
  • Support pupils with MLD/SLD/ASD/PMLD in class, one-to-one, and in small groups as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Assist with tailored learning programmes and daily routines.
  • Support behaviour management while promoting independence and confidence.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
About You
  • Experience working with children or young people is essential, whether that be within a school setting or through a transferable role (for example, through sports coaching).
  • Patient, resilient, and compassionate with a proactive approach expected from a Teaching Assistant that may be working 1:1 or with a group of children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Committed to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
