Location: South Manchester
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Salary: £18,500–£22,500 per day (depending on experience)
A school in South Manchester is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible, with the potential to continue long term, depending on the needs of the school.
You will be supporting a pupil who uses a wheelchair and requires daily assistance with mobility, personal care, and accessing learning. This is a hands-on role that will involve moving and handling and supporting transitions throughout the school day.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, SEND professionals, and families to ensure the pupil receives consistent and effective support. You’ll help create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
Experience supporting young people with SEND, particularly those with physical or medical needs
Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
Experience working with wheelchair users is highly desirable
Willingness to undertake training such as first aid and moving and handling
A proactive team player who is confident, reliable, and flexible
This role may particularly suit candidates with experience in care, nursing, or personal support who are looking to transition into education.
