Job summary

About the Role

Academics is seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN Tutor to provide high-quality 1:1 home tuition for a student with complex special educational needs. The role involves delivering personalised, structured learning sessions within the student's home environment, ensuring they receive the tailored support required to make progress both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver bespoke 1:1 tuition adapted to the student's complex SEN profile
  • Create a calm, supportive, and consistent learning environment
  • Plan and deliver engaging sessions based on ability rather than age-related expectations
  • Implement strategies that support communication, emotional regulation, and engagement
  • Work collaboratively with Academics, parents/carers, and external professionals
  • Provide regular updates and progress reports
Requirements
  • QTS, relevant teaching qualification, or substantial SEN tutoring/teaching experience
  • Proven experience supporting students with complex or high-level needs (e.g. ASC, SEMH, global developmental delay, communication difficulties)
  • Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to travel to the student's home for tuition sessions
