High-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEND Focus

Location: Maidstone, Independent School – Mixed Primary & Secondary Age Groups, Start Date: ASAP, Contract: Until End of Term (with potential for extension)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced High-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive independent school in Maidstone, working across both primary and secondary age groups. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality classroom support across a range of subjects and age groups.
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 support to a secondary-aged student with Down syndrome, promoting independence and engagement.
  • Assist in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement EHCPs and personalised strategies.
  • Support behaviour management and emotional wellbeing in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Requirements
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly Down syndrome.
  • Confidence working across both primary and secondary age ranges.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, flexible approach.
  • Available to start immediately and commit until at least the end of term.
