Overview

Job Title: SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Littleborough, Greater Manchester

Pay Rate: £120 per day

Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only

Start Date: January 2026 (or sooner)

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging lessons and lead small group interventions
  • Provide expert support tailored to individual pupil needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
  • Independently plan and deliver lessons and interventions tailored to SEN pupils
  • Support pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to achieve their targets
  • Manage classroom behaviour and implement positive behaviour strategies
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching methods as needed
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to provide holistic support
  • Mentor and guide less experienced teaching assistants
  • Maintain HLTA accreditation or equivalent Level 4 qualification
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an SEN HLTA or senior teaching assistant in a specialist setting
  • HLTA accreditation or equivalent Level 4 qualification
  • Strong knowledge of SEN, including autism, SEMH, and behaviour management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Calm, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting vulnerable pupils
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
  • Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to apply
