Job summary

A local educational organisation in Hackney is seeking a SEN Maths and English Tutor to provide personalised support for students with SEN needs. The role involves planning engaging lessons and adapting teaching strategies to support individual learning styles. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, with a preference for those holding QTS or HLTA qualifications. This position offers flexible hours of up to 6 hours a week at a rate of £35 per hour.

Make a Real Impact as a SEN Maths and English Tutor.

Are you a passionate educator, making a difference in the lives of students with SEN needs? We are looking for experienced and dedicated tutors. You’ll provide personalised 1:1 support with young adult learners in Functional Skills Entry Level 1 or KS1 Maths and English. These in-person sessions in Hackney offer the chance to work closely with students, helping them build skills and confidence in a supportive and tailored learning environment.

  • This job is in person in the Hackney area.
  • Hours: Up to 6 hours per week
  • Day(s): Monday - Friday
  • Time(s): 2 hour sessions, 3 times a week. Between 10am and 2pm
  • Subject and Level: Functional Skills Entry Level 1 or KS1 Maths or English
  • Start date: Immediate start
  • Contract Length: end of December 2025
  • Rate of pay: £35ph
What You'll Do
  • Provide tuition that is appropriate for the individuals needs and study level
  • Plan engaging lessons tailored to the unique needs of the student
  • Provide targeted support for student with SEN
  • Assess barriers to learning and create a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Monitor progress, produce reports and adapt teaching strategies to achieve measurable outcomes
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the curriculum content and qualification frameworks you're providing subject tuition in
  • Regularly reporting updates to the Tuition Programmes Manager
We're looking for someone who has:
  • Experience working with students with SEN in specialist or alternative provisions settings
  • 3+ years of tutoring / teaching experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or HLTA qualification - preferred
  • An ability to adapt lessons to suit different learning styles and needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The right to be self employed in the UK
