Role & Responsibilities

As a Special Educational Needs (SEN) English Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic journey of students with diverse learning needs. You will craft engaging lessons, implement effective teaching strategies, and foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment. You\'ll collaborate closely with support staff and parents, ensuring each student receives the individualised attention they require to thrive. You will be empowered to develop and implement innovative teaching methods, making a real difference in the lives of your students.

Main tasks include:
  • Develop and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons tailored to individual student needs.
  • Implement and adapt literacy frameworks to maximise student progress.
  • Create a positive, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with support staff and other professionals to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Minimum 6 months' experience teaching students with SEN (Experience with Autism, ADHD, SLD, and PMLD highly desirable).
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is required.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to professional development.
