Job description

Educational Health Care Assistant - SEN Schools

We are currently recruiting Educational Health Care Assistants to support pupils in a range of specialist SEN school settings across both primary and secondary age groups. This role combines elements of personal care and classroom support, working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams to ensure pupils with complex needs receive holistic, high-quality care and education.

This postion will be offered on a 0 hour contract through an agency, with work beginning on a temporary basis. For those who demonstrate commitment, reliability, and a good fit with the school, there may be opportunities to move onto a permanent school contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene routines.

  • Assist in delivering classroom-based learning and therapeutic activities under the guidance of teaching staff.

  • Promote pupils' physical, emotional, and social development in line with their individual care plans and EHCPs.

  • Work one-to-one or in small groups with pupils who may have autism, complex medical needs, or physical disabilities.

  • Contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience in either care(e.g. healthcare, residential, or personal care roles)or education(e.g. teaching assistant or learning support)is essential.

  • A patient, compassionate, and professional approach.

  • Willingness to support with personal care and manual handling (training can be provided).

  • Good communication and teamworking skills.

  • A proactive attitude and ability to adapt in a dynamic school environment.
