Responsibilities
  • Delivering pre-planned lessons and activities to students with special educational needs, adhering to the curriculum and learning objectives set by the absent teacher
  • Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the individual needs of each student, ensuring an inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Maintaining a positive and nurturing classroom atmosphere, promoting good behaviour and addressing any issues that may arise
  • Collaborating with the SEN department and other staff members to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to supporting students
  • Keeping accurate records of student progress, attendance, and any incidents, reporting them to the appropriate staff members as required
  • Participating in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students with special educational needs
Qualifications
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification in education, special educational needs, or a related field
  • Proven experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in a cover supervisor or teaching assistant capacity
  • A thorough understanding of the challenges faced by students with special educational needs and strategies to support their learning and well-being
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
  • A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of students with special educational needs
