Role: Semi Skilled Operative

Hourly Rate: £15.32 per hour + opportunity to earn overtime and additional hourly merit rate between £0.25 - £4.38 (Once passed probation)

Role based: Portakabin Ltd, Peterborough, PE4 5ET

Contract type: Permanent

Working hours: 39 Hours, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a Semi Skilled Operative to join our team based in Peterborough.

These roles will play a critical part in ensuring products are manufactured and delivered to our customers safely, on time and to our high quality standards. Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for carrying out all tasks necessary to meet our customer requirements, following established procedures and instructions and applying practical experience.

Responsibilities

As a Semi Skilled Operative, you will:

  • Perform work in accordance with established quality standards, technical specifications, service requirements and Health and Safety regulations.
  • Plan and execute assigned tasks in accordance with technical specifications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Assessments and Method Statements, while maintaining a safe, organised and clean working environment.
  • Work towards achieving manufacturing targets by identifying faults, implementing solutions where possible, or escalating issues as necessary.
  • Take responsibility for individual and others health and safety, ensuring health and safety policies are adhered and near-miss and hazards are reported when witnessed.
  • Assist and support team in providing a customer focused and efficient service.

Our ideal candidate

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Practical skills developed through technical training combined with supervised hands‑on application.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations and machinery acquired through experience training.
  • Experience working in a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
