A community-focused services organization in Lowestoft is seeking a building maintenance technician to support local play areas and emergency response efforts. The ideal candidate will have building maintenance experience and a valid driving licence. The role offers attractive health benefits, learning opportunities, and a chance to give back to the community.
At East Suffolk Services , we proudly deliver a wide range of essential local services that support the lives of over a quarter of a million residents and thousands of businesses across our district. We are a new, growing organisation full of energy, ambition, and purpose. As part of our team, you’ll play an important role in helping us shape high-quality, efficient services that people rely on every single day. This is more than just a job – it’s a fantastic opportunity to support, and give back to, your local community.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, problem‑solving individual with some building maintenance experience, including minor plumbing, carpentry and ground works. A major part of this position will be to undertake inspections and minor repairs of 96 play areas throughout the East Suffolk District using a handheld tablet with bespoke user‑friendly software. You will also be part of the ESSL emergency response team involved in flood prevention, winter gritting, and working in conjunction with the Maritime and Coast Guard Agency to respond to coastal pollution incidents. A good understanding of Health and Safety and a flexible, dynamic approach is essential as you will encounter challenges and are unlikely to have the same day twice. Lots of training and support will be provided to enable you to thrive and create a path for future progression within the team.
You will need experience of the building trade, demonstrable ability to complete a wide range of maintenance duties, and an NVQ 2 in a building trade would be desirable or extensive relevant experience. A full driving licence is essential.
