Job summary

A leading food manufacturer in Doncaster is seeking a Semi-Skilled Engineer to support the engineering and maintenance team. As part of this role, you will gain hands-on experience with food production machinery and equipment, assist in maintenance tasks, and contribute to continuous improvement projects. The ideal candidate will have an apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2+ in mechanical or electrical engineering and a proactive approach to learning and development. Qualifications

  • Recent apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2+ in mechanical or electrical engineering is required.
  • Some practical maintenance experience on machinery is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks across the site.
  • Support planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure machinery meets site standards and maintenance requirements.
  • Follow Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures.
  • Help with projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Develop your career as an Engineer with an established food manufacturer offering training, development, and the chance to learn by working closely with their engineering team.

About the Role:

As a Semi-Skilled Engineer, you’ll support the engineering and maintenance team, gaining hands‑on experience with a range of food production machinery and equipment, while developing your skills and knowledge as an Engineer.

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (rotating 05:30-14:30 & 14:30-23:30)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks across the site as a Semi‑Skilled Engineer
  • Carry out and support planned and reactive maintenance and engineering activities
  • Support the engineering team to ensure machinery and equipment meet site standards and maintenance requirements
  • Follow all Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures while working as an Engineer
  • Help with projects and continuous improvement initiatives as a Semi‑Skilled Engineer
Skills & Experience:
  • Recent apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2+ in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Some practical maintenance experience on manufacturing machinery and equipment is desirable
  • Willingness to learn and develop as an Engineer within the team
  • Proactive approach, able to work effectively with colleagues in engineering and production
