Job summary

Michael Page is assisting a well-established independent accountancy practice to recruit a Semi-Senior Accountant. The role offers hands-on exposure across accounts, tax, VAT and client advisory work for owner-managed businesses, partnerships, and limited companies.

You will prepare statutory accounts and corporation tax computations, assist with personal and business tax, VAT returns and management accounts, plus bookkeeping using cloud software.

Qualifications

• ACCA part-qualified or AAT qualification preferred, with practical experience in practice.
• Experience preparing year-end accounts for various entities and tax work.
• Proficiency with cloud accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
• Strong attention to detail and client-facing communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Compute and return Corporation Tax, assist with personal and business tax matters.
• Prepare VAT returns and management accounts.
• Carry out bookkeeping and account reconciliations using cloud software.
• Liaise with clients and support senior team on assignments and deadlines.
• Maintain high professional standards and build client relationships.

Description

• Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Prepare Corporation Tax computations and returns
• Assist with personal and business tax matters
• Prepare VAT returns and management accounts
• Carry out bookkeeping and account reconciliations using cloud-based accounting software
• Liaise directly with clients and respond to day-to-day queries
• Support senior team members with client assignments and deadlines
• Ensure work is completed accurately and in line with professional standards
• BuÉild and maintain strong client relationships across a diverse portfolio

Profile

• Ideally 2-4 years' experience within an accountancy practice
• ACCA part-qualified, AAT qualified or equivalent practical experience
• Experience preparing year-end accounts for a range of business entities
• Good understanding of Corporation Tax and VAT
• Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and client-facing abilities
• Proactive and positive approach to work
• Keen to continue learning and progressing within the profession

Job Offer

• £27,000 - £35,000 depending on experience
