Job summary

Long-term Teachers is recruiting a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school on the outskirts of Truro. This role focuses on supporting students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour, with opportunities for outdoor learning and practical activities.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, building trauma-informed relationships and promoting emotional regulation and social skills alongside experienced staff. This is a full-time position with a strong focus on wellbeing and engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting SEMH or students with challenging behaviour.
• Patient, resilient and passionate about making a difference.
• Ability to build trauma-informed relationships with young people.
• Comfort with outdoor activities and sports and willingness to participate.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
• Build positive relationships with young people from trauma-informed backgrounds.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group classroom support.
• Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour and social skills.
• Participate in outdoor learning, sports and extracurricular activities.
• Help students develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards education.
• Work alongside experienced teachers and specialist support staff.
