Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Ashton in Makerfield
Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time, Term Time
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: £95 - 120 per day

This specialist SEMH provision supports children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs through a highly nurturing, structured and inclusive approach. The Role
Responsibilities
  • Support learners with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Help pupils self-regulate, develop confidence and engage positively in learning.
  • Implement SEMH strategies and behaviour support plans alongside qualified staff.
  • Promote a calm, consistent and trauma-aware classroom environment.
  • Assist with lesson resources, differentiation and pupil observations.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and pastoral teams.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and empathetic under pressure.
  • Skilled in forming positive relationships and offering reassurance and structure.
  • Resilient, proactive and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
  • Experience or training in trauma-informed approaches.
  • A relevant TA qualification or willingness to undertake training.
