Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Aspire People is pleased to be recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded primary school in Worsley (M28). We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you\'ll work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff to support a pupil with SEMH needs in accessing learning and achieving positive outcomes. This role requires patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to SEMH needs
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and follow behaviour support strategies
  • Support teaching and learning in the classroom
  • Help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support social and emotional development through positive relationship-building
  • Monitor progress and report to teaching and SEN staff
  • Assist with personal care needs if required
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with SEN/SEMH in a school or specialist setting
  • Good understanding of SEMH and strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential
