Mental Health Teaching Assistant

Are you looking for a role where you can support the mental health of young people?

A well‑respected specialist school near Haywards Heath is looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The students range between 5 and 11 years old, and face a range of social, emotional and mental health needs, and challenges including trauma, anxiety, OCD, and behavioural issues. The students therefore need a Mental Health Teaching Assistant who will be dedicated to being a consistent role model, is committed to building strong relationships, is empathetic and up for a challenge! The school is located in the beautiful area of Haywards Heath and has on‑site parking.

Responsibilities
  • Support children with SEMH needs including trauma, anxiety, OCD, and behavioural issues.
  • Be a consistent role model.
  • Build strong relationships with students.
  • Demonstrate empathy and resilience.
Qualifications
  • Open‑minded and resilient.
  • Knowledgeable about mental health.
  • Experience working with SEN children and/or adults in any setting.
  • Graduates in Psychology, Criminology or Counselling preferred.
  • Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).
  • Applicants will need to have or apply for an Enhanced DBS and/or overseas police check where appropriate.
Benefits & Details
  • Start date: October.
  • Pay: £90‑110 per day, Monday‑Friday, 8:30am‑3pm (term time only).
  • PAYE – term time only.
  • Excellent on‑site training, support and CPD provided to ensure safeguarding of all students.
  • On‑site parking.
