SEMH Teaching Assistant Canterbury

Academics are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in one of our welcoming partner schools in Canterbury, East Kent. This is a highly rewarding role for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact on young people who require additional emotional and behavioural support.

What you'll do as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Assist in implementing behaviour strategies and personalised support plans
  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and a positive sense of wellbeing
  • Help pupils develop confidence, self-esteem, and coping strategies
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral teams
  • Create a calm, safe, and structured environment that supports learning and emotional growth
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviours
