Qualifications

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.

Are you a compassionate, resilient and motivated Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new role? Our partnered SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Hartlepool is seeking a dedicated TA to join their team from January.

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a supportive and forward‑thinking SEMH provision that works with pupils who require tailored behavioural, emotional, and educational support. This is a full‑time, long‑term position, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Help maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering personalised learning activities
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support emotional regulation
  • Use de‑escalation strategies and foster positive behaviour
  • Support pupils both in the classroom and around the school as needed
Requirements
