Job summary

Milk Education are recruiting a SEMH Support Assistant to work with young people who have experienced adverse childhood experiences and support them on their journey through education.

You will support pupils aged 5-16 with SEMH needs, building relationships, helping regulate emotions and access learning in a tailored way.

The role features working hours 8.30am-3.30pm, Monday to Friday in Ferryhill and surrounding areas, with a supportive staff team and opportunities for CPD and progression.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs is desirable but not essential.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Calm, resilient and empathetic approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Enhanced DBS Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils aged 5-16 with SEMH needs.
• Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and resilience.
• Support pupils to regulate emotions and access learning.
• Work with teachers and pastoral staff to adapt resources to individual needs.
• Promote a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
