Job summary

Milk Education is seeking Criminology and Social Science graduates for a Learning Support Assistant role at a specialist SEMH school in Islington. You will support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and mentoring while working 1:1 and in small groups to deliver trauma-informed interventions.

The role provides front-line experience in safeguarding, risk assessment, and contextual safeguarding, with training and CPD opportunities to advance toward forensic psychology and youth

Qualifications

• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, self-esteem, and pro-social behaviour
• Assisting staff with behaviour management and crisis de-escalation
• Supporting restorative conversations, consequences, and conflict resolution
• Working 1:1 and in small groups on mentoring and intervention programmes
• Helping pupils develop coping strategies, emotional literacy, and safer decision-making
• Gaining exposure to trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, risk assessment, and contextual safeguarding
• Supporting preventative work around knife crime, exploitation, peer pressure, and criminalisation

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with emotional regulation and pro-social behaviour in SEMH settings
• Assist staff with behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
• Facilitate restorative conversations and conflict resolution
• Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring and intervention activities
• Help pupils build coping strategies and emotional literacy
• Gain exposure to safeguarding and risk assessment in contextual safeguarding
• Support preventative work addressing knife crime and exploitation
