Job summary

Simply Education is seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and ASD at an independent school in Ely, Cambridgeshire.

This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm, focusing on personalised learning plans, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour support. You will work closely with teachers to monitor progress and contribute to assessments in a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEMH and/or ASD needs.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a school setting.
  • Understanding of strategies to support social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and effective classroom management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support for children with SEMH and ASD needs, both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of personalised learning plans.
  • Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and social development.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to implement strategies that promote engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to assessment and reporting.
  • Support classroom management to ensure a safe, structured and inclusive environment.
  • Contribute to the wider pastoral and academic goals of the school.
