Security Systems & Access Control Engineer

Location: Central London
Working Hours: 8am-4:30pm

Polyteck Building Services is seeking a skilled Security Systems & Access Control Engineer to deliver planned and reactive maintenance across multiple client sites in Central London. This role is vital in ensuring life safety systems remain compliant, reliable, and operational at all times.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective running of assigned jobs, including: planning and allocating sufficient labour and time, managing and maintaining security & access control systems, carrying out reactive repairs and fault rectification.
  • Liaise with Electrical Operations Manager and Purchasing Administrator to ensure sufficient equipment and materials.
  • Complete job sheets with accurate call‑out descriptions, time spent, and work completed; maintain all required log sheets and ensure on‑site log books are kept up to date.
  • Attend and respond to reactive call‑outs both during and outside working hours; raise additional job sheets when extra on‑site time is required.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety requirements and site risk assessments.
  • Liaise professionally with customers and tenants to ensure expectations are clearly managed and met.
Operational Duties
  • Install, maintain, and service fire and security systems.
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and fault diagnosis.
  • Respond to emergency call‑outs and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Ensure adequate resource planning for labour, time, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate site documentation and reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with procurement to source required parts and equipment.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, tenants, and team members.
Personal Conduct
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with working hours when required.
  • Take ownership of responsibilities and contribute to company success.
