Job summary

The Ellison Institute of Technology seeks a proactive Security Operations Engineer to safeguard our research platforms and collaborators. This hands-on role centers on monitoring, incident response, detection engineering, and continuous security improvements in a world-class environment.

Work closely with IT, governance, and research teams to enable innovation while maintaining robust security. Travel may be required to support global projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in Security Operations, SOC, or Incident Response.
• Hands-on with SIEM such as Azure Sentinel, Splunk, or Taegis.
• Familiarity with EDR tools including SentinelOne or CrowdStrike.
• Strong knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK techniques.
• Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, identity systems, and networking.
• Cloud security experience (OCI preferred).

Responsibilities

• Operate and enhance security monitoring across endpoints, servers, cloud platforms, and networks.
• Tune SIEM tools to improve detection accuracy.
• Investigate and triage security alerts; escalate as needed.
• Respond to security incidents with containment and recovery.
• Produce incident reports and root-cause analyses.
• Develop detection rules and automation workflows.
• Apply threat intelligence to improve detection in research environments.
• Support vulnerability scanning and remediation tracking.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to embed secure practices.
• Contribute to runbooks, audits, and risk assessments.
